Martin Blake arriveert in Californië om als arts in een ziekenhuis te gaan werken. De verlegen en onzekere Martin probeert het respect van zijn collega's af te dwingen, maar hij valt nauwelijks op. Wanneer de 18-jarige beeldschone Diane met een nierinfectie wordt opgenomen, en zij de jonge arts het respect geeft waar hij zo naar verlangt, is hij op slag verliefd. Maar wanneer Diana's gezondheid verbetert, wordt Martin bang om haar kwijt te raken. De goede dokter wil het meisje in het ziekenhuis te houden, en gaat daarvoor desnoods over lijken!
