Brigadoon is een stadje in de Schotse Hooglanden dat eens in de 100 jaar tot leven komt. De bewoners mogen de grenzen van het dorp niet overschrijden of er zullen zeker rampen over Brigadoon komen. Twee Amerikanen verdwalen echter en komen in het stadje terecht. Het duurt even voor de vreemdelingen een warm onthaal krijgen, maar dan wordt één van hen verliefd.
