Maggie en Rose zijn zussen, maar ze verschillen als dag en nacht. Maggie is mooi en sexy, een tikje oppervlakkig en charmant. Ze is dol op winkelen maar heeft geen huis, carriere en geld. Rose is twee jaar ouder, en lijkt in niets op Maggie. Ze is advocate en heeft haar pensioenvoorziening al geregeld. Ze heeft een relatie met een gescheiden collega, waarvan ze hoopt dat die zal uitmonden in een huwelijk. Als Maggie bij haar zoveelste baantje de laan uit vliegt, gaat ze voor hulp naar Rose, die voor de zoveelste keer probeert haar zus te helpen. Maar als blijkt dat Maggie niet alleen een voorkeur heeft voor de schoenen van Rose, maar ook voor haar minnaar, ontspoort hun toch al wankele relatie. Dan komt Ella in hun leven: hun grootmoeder die ze al twintig jaar niet hebben gezien. Zij brengt Maggie en Rose samen in haar huis in Florida, waarop even hilarische als hartverscheurende verwikkelingen volgen.
